lthough best known in the pop media as the Black Widow and Captain America, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans both have impressive acting careers outside the MCU. While Evans started his career with television roles and a handful of movies before Captain America, Johansson first appeared on stage as a child actor in Off-Broadway. Evans built a career playing the typical all-American guy next door, and Johansson worked her way from child actor to ingénue and indie darling.
Update Noember 2, 2023: With rumors circulating about the Marvel Cinematic Universe wanting to bring back characters like Captain America and Black Widow, this article has been updated with more information about Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson’s past collaborations and where they can be streamed.
Prior to their work in the MCU, Evans and Johansson first starred opposite each other in The Perfect Score. They have become so linked that Ghosted was originally set to star both Evans and Johansson before the actress dropped out and Ana de Armas took over the role. However, the two will reunite once again for Jason Bateman’s space race drama Project Artemis. Evans and Johansson have starred in nine moves together (so far) — here’s a look at where each ranks against the others.
The Perfect Score (2004) The first movie on our list did not do that well in the box office, as it grossed only $10 million and received negative reviews from the critics, who were unsatisfied with its lack of originality. The plot tells the story of six high school students who are scared of failing their SATs, so they decide to break into a regional office to steal all the answers to exams. The Perfect Score tries to send a message that your goals and dreams are more than just a test score. Evans plays the main character Kyle, while Johansson plays Francesca, the daughter of the owner of the office.
What Makes It Great? Despite the film being from the 2000s, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans easily pᴀssed off as teenagers, which made their chemistry playful and natural, to say the least. However, the coming-of-age comedy only gets so far in terms of being memorable. Beyond being a mildly entertaining film with an average plot, The Perfect Score does not make the most of its actual heist premise. This is the first of many collaborations between the two.
